House rules
Last updated August 24, 2026Four rules, and they all come from one.
Rec like a friend
Every recommendation is you telling a friend where to go, with your name on it.
Recommend places you’ve actually been and would actually send someone to. Say why in your own words. Your name stands next to everything you publish — write like it.
Photos
Show the place. Don't show strangers who didn't ask to be shown.
Photos should be about the place. Avoid photos where identifiable strangers are the subject; never post photos of private individuals without their okay. No sexually explicit imagery anywhere — including After Dark, where the venue can be adult but the photo still can’t be explicit. No gore, no illegal content.
People
Skip the place, never dunk on the person. There are no fights to win here — there are no ratings.
No harassment, hate, slurs, or threats. No doxxing. Passing on a place is silent by design; there is no downvote, and campaigns against a place or person will get you removed faster than anything else. If someone bothers you, you can block them from their profile — quietly, both ways, no announcement — and report them in the same breath if it’s worse than that.
Keep it real
No pay-for-praise, no self-promo in disguise, no bots.
Don’t accept anything in exchange for a recommendation. If you recommend your own place, say so plainly. No fake accounts, no automation, no scraping.
After Dark
Adults recommending adult venues to adults — behind the gate, with the same manners.
After Dark venues live behind an 18+ opt-in. Everything above still applies there: real recs, no explicit imagery, no shaming the people who go or work there.
Reporting & moderation
See something wrong? One quiet tap. Humans review, nothing is decided by a mob.
Every public photo and note carries a report control. Reports are anonymous to the reported. Enough distinct reports hide a photo until a moderator reviews it; a moderator makes the call either way. If your content is hidden or removed, you’ll see its status on your own view. Appeals: hello@iykyk.social.
